Throughout this program students are challenged to work as a team. The very first part of the course is to develop a code of conduct, known as the "Group Code". This code is written using whiteboard markers because throughout the program the class will be given the opportunity to adjust the group code. Each session of YR7 TEAM has team challenges including Log Lurch, Spider Web, Tarp Turnover, Sherpa Walks and Blindfolded Bumper Cars. Just to name a few.

The class is instructed on the various team roles, which fit into the categories of Functional, Social, and Dysfunctional. Students are also challenged to identify some of these roles at work in their group. The class is also instructed on the communication cycle.

Teaching is kept to a minimum in this action based learning environment to allow more learning to take place. As the classes are forced to problem solve their interpersonal fault lines are revealed. as these are revealed the activity is paused so those fault lines can be addressed.

During the second session one teacher exclaimed

"I have never seen this class work so well together"

Students are saying that their group code would only work if

"everyone would follow it"
