SRE - Special Religious Education

SRE or Scripture as it is commonly called is a special privilege offered to students in NSW Public Schools. SRE is more than teaching kids what the bible says. SRE is about helping students wrestle with their spirituality particularly from a Christian perspective.

The SRE Curriculums delivered at Narrabri High School has been developed by Narrabri Schools Ministry Inc. and authorised for use by Presbyterian Youth NSW. SRE teachers are also approved to teach SRE in NSW High Schools through approved providers such as Presbyterian Youth NSW http://pynsw.org.au/sre/

SRE at Narrabri High School seeks to aid students on their own spiritual journey. Allowing them space to find answers to questions that are buried deep in their souls.

Students find SRE to be a welcome break from the normal routine of High School life. SRE is offered for just three lessons in Years Seven and Eight. During Year Seven students are offered a glimpse into the Bible's perspective of the world and its need of a Saviour. Year Eight looks at the world's and the Bible's claims about this Saviour.

SRE is also offered to the whole school as special guests present to combined assemblies in the school auditorium. Over the last few years we have been privileged to host presentations from Coffs Harbour Christian Community College, Krosswerdz, and the Jesus Racing Team.

SRE involvement in NSW public schools is optional, new enrolments are asked to nominate their preference. Should a parent decide to change their preference at any point they are asked simply to notify the school in writing so the enrolment information can be updated.
